Talk with Yasmeen Lamaa – President of AUB Women’s Engineering
We invited Yasmeen Lamaa, President of AUB Women’s Engineering (WIE), to share her experience as an engineering student. Hearing her speak, not just about grades or achievements, but about what it’s actually like to be in the field, gave us a fresh perspective on studying engineering. Yasmeen spoke honestly about balancing projects, late nights, and self-doubt, while still finding motivation in the impact engineering can have.
She also offered genuine insight into what studying engineering at AUB is like, which was especially valuable since many of our members are interested in applying there. Equally inspiring, she guided some of our younger eligible students through the TechGirls application process and shared her own experience in the program, encouraging several members to apply.
Even though our basketball girls who were away competing couldn’t join us this week, the discussion sparked great conversations and left everyone inspired. Yasmeen was kind enough to share her number with the club and offered to connect members with AUB students in specific engineering majors, creating an informal but meaningful link between our chapter and the university community.
