Product redesign challenge

In this week’s meeting, we discovered the field of human-centered design. We began by learning about basic design principles such as usability, functionality, and empathy. We discussed how great design is about how something works for the person using it.

After a short introduction, we moved on to a hands-on activity where we reimagined everyday objects and systems, from coffee cups that prevent spills to backpacks that better distribute weight or include smart compartments. The goal was to solve practical, real-world problems through design thinking: observing user needs, brainstorming solutions, and sketching improved prototypes.

As usual, we ended the session by sharing and presenting our work.

Here is one of our designs: a smart coffee machine that tracks your caffeine intake and automatically switches to decaf once you’ve reached your limit.
